Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) is a compound, or “terpene”, that produces a sharp, spicy aroma reminiscent of black pepper, clove, and oregano – plants in which it can also be found in abundance. Though originally considered a terpene, BCP is also considered a cannabinoid because it works directly with the endocannabinoid system (ECS). BCP specifically targets the CB2 receptors in the body aiding in the reduction of inflammation and pain.
